The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) invites all journalists to attend its 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting — the country’s largest interdisciplinary conference in the field of aging — from November 2 to 6 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Qualified media representatives intending to cover the meeting may register free of charge.

An estimated 3,000 professionals are expected to attend the five-day gathering at the Indiana Convention Center and JW Marriott Indianapolis. The theme for 2022 is “Embracing Our Diversity. Enriching Our Discovery. Reimagining Aging,” and the program schedule contains 450 scientific sessions featuring research presented for the first time. Noteworthy meeting highlights include:

  • A wealth of story ideas: GSA offers direct access to leading authorities and new discoveries in gerontology. Explore the latest developments related to innovative technologies, Social Security and retirement, long-term care, human longevity, and much more. The meeting website offers a searchable program.
  • Press briefings: On Thursday, November 3, GSA is partnering with AARP on a lunchtime press briefing. Presenters will discuss AARP’s latest survey on financial security trends, the Global Roadmap for Healthy Longevity from the National Academy of Medicine, and the new and improved 2022 AARP Livability Index. On Friday, November 4, GSA is partnering with the Diverse Elders Coalition on a lunchtime press briefing. Presenters will discuss research findings, the federal policy landscape, and the unique experiences and needs of diverse family caregivers for diverse older adults.
  • Keynote address: Author Isabel Wilkerson will deliver the keynote address in the President’s Opening Plenary Session on Thursday, November 3. She is a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal, and the author of The New York Times bestsellers “The Warmth of Other Suns” and “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.”
  • Networking opportunities: The Press Room, which serves as a base of operations for reporters, provides a venue for discussion about emerging issues on the aging beat. There will be a reception for reporters the evening of Friday, November 4.

The complimentary media registration allows access to all scientific sessions and the Exhibit Hall.

We look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis!
