The Society is looking for participants for our upcoming GSA Diversity Mentoring and Career Development Technical Assistance Workshop! This is a perfect opportunity for talented early-career investigators from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s being held online October 28 and 29, and participants are also expected to participate in GSA’s Annual Scientific Meeting in November.
The program is designed to empower trainees for successful career development and strategic planning. Our expert faculty will provide comprehensive information related to mentoring opportunities, career development, professional networks, and leadership. The workshop kicks off a series of opportunities for trainees year-round. Given GSA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, this workshop is part of our broader effort to foster a well-prepared and empowered diverse workforce to contribute to the future of aging research.
We thank the National Institute on Aging for providing the grant funds to support this innovative and immersive event. Successful applicants will be awarded a stipend to support registration for the workshop, participating in the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting, and other engagements that occur throughout the year.
Applications are open to emerging scholars from underrepresented groups who have recently obtained a doctoral degree (within the last three years) or are within one year of graduating with their doctoral degree. Applicants are not required to be involved in aging research, or in a gerontological program, at the time of the application. However, applicants must express their interest, plans, and commitment to contribute to the field of gerontology. Applications are due September 27 by 5 p.m. ET.
