GSA Innovation Fund
Why Is the Annual GSA Innovation Fund Important?
Participation in the annual GSA Innovation Fund demonstrates your belief in the Society’s mission: to advance innovation in aging.
Furthermore, your gift underwrites future-focused opportunities that move the fields of gerontology and geriatrics forward and benefit Society members.
What is The Generativity Effect?
Gifts of unrestricted dollars to the annual GSA Innovation Fund enable the Society to be flexible and responsive in the rapidly changing environment in which we live and work.
We carry a generativity focus into all the programs, products, and services supported by the GSA Innovation Fund.
Unrestricted gifts to the annual GSA Innovation Fund: The Generativity Effect will help
- strengthen the Visiting Scholar program;
- fund important skill development webinars;
- support the GSA on Aging podcast series;
- advance GSA’s Careers in Aging Week; and
- provide networking events for members.
GSA Innovation Fund: History and Purpose
Launched in 2010 in recognition of the Society's 65th anniversary, the GSA Innovation Fund was created to help support the development of new programs, products, and services for members. Careers in Aging Week awareness campaigns, and ESPO Professional Development Webinars continue to benefit from annual giving.
In 2013, The Mentoring Effect, a special project of the GSA Innovation Fund, was spearheaded by GSA members Keith Whitfield and Deborah T. Gold as a 3-year special development effort to exclusively support mentorship within the Society. The Mentoring Effect raised more than $94,000 and has supported the creation of GSA’s unique online career networking tool, Mentor Match, as well as many new, exciting mentoring resources. GSA gratefully acknowledges donors to The Mentoring Effect.
